Traditional Lithuanian sauna

A Lithuanian sauna — pirtis — is more than just sweating. It's an old ritual: heat up, cool down, repeat. Vila Valentino offers an authentic pirtis experience in a private villa near Kliepšiai, Ukmergė district — no neighbours, no rush, just your group. The wood-fired sauna takes about an hour to heat up, so plan ahead. Fragrant wood, soft steam, and quiet rest afterwards — this is a Lithuanian sauna the way our grandparents knew it.

The sauna ritual

The ritual is simple but effective: first, sit in the sauna for 8–15 minutes until you start to sweat. Then cool down — in cold air, a cold shower, or (in warm months) the private pond next to the villa. Rest 10–15 minutes, drink water, repeat the cycle 2–4 times. After a sauna session, expect deep sleep or a calm evening. Many guests describe the sauna as the highlight of their stay — the moment thoughts and body finally settle.

What's included

The sauna add-on (200 EUR per stay) covers: full sauna access for the duration of your stay, firewood for the stove, a changing area, towels (1 small + 1 large per guest), and drinking water. The sauna sits in a separate wooden cabin next to the main house — easy access from the inner courtyard. For comfort and safety, we recommend up to 4–6 people in the steam room at one time.

Practical info

The sauna takes about 1 hour to heat up — if you plan an evening session, start the fire in advance. Firewood for your full stay is included. The villa is a vienkiemis (private homestead with no neighbours), so you can use the sauna at any time of day or night. The pirtis works year-round: especially cosy in winter after a cold day; in summer, pair it with the private pond instead of a cold plunge. The sauna runs at around 70–90 °C with light steam — the traditional Lithuanian balance.

How to book

The sauna is booked together with your stay — 200 EUR for the entire visit, not per night. It's a flat fee, so the longer you stay, the better the value. The sauna pairs naturally with the outdoor hot tub (8–10 people) — a popular choice for groups looking for a complete spa experience in nature.
